Goals for the New Year

Tuesday, 3. January 2012

For most of my life I have loved to make New Year’s resolutions.  I always felt that the New Year was an oppurtunity to create a new me.  Lately though, I feel that I don’t need to create a new me.   I like the me I’ve become.  That being said, I feel there is always some room for a little tweaking.  So, what are my tweaks/goals for 2012?

Well, I’ll start with the big one, eat better.  I have been having tummy trouble on and off for years.  I just recently found out it is a polyp in my gall bladder that is blame.  I am faced with the choice of having my gall bladder removed or waiting to see if the polyp resolves on its own.  I did a whole lot of research and came to the decision to wait and see.  I had to make some dietary changes to make myself comfortable in the meantime  though.  I can’t tell you too much about the gall bladder because I don’t know too much about it.  I do know that it aids in the digestion of fat, so any time I eat any fat, I get sick.  I have adopted a basically vegan diet to relieve as many symptoms as possible.  So, far, so good.  I am working with and taking the advice of my doctor so I am sure I can manage this for the rest of my life (unless the poly grows).  I am hoping that some good will come from this, mainly a healthier family.  I am still trying to come up with fresh, wholesome, family friendly recipes.  I will share the ones that work.

My other personal goal for the year is to get back into racing.  Years back I was an avid runner and triathlete (short races 5ks and sprint length triathlons, I’m not Wonderwoman or anything).  I never considered myself an athlete, I am definitely a back-of-the-packer but that doesn’t diminish my love of racing.  What does?  A fixer-upper house and a fourth child.  For the last five years I have been too busy and too exhausted to train and race.  Now,that  my baby is not so much a baby and the house is finally, mostly to my liking.  is the time the train and get ready for some races.

On to the house, I don’t have any new projects this year.  I just need to finish-up stuff.  First on my list is my boys’ room.  I finished about half of their room before I got sidetracked by summer vacation, major ceiling repairs, and Christmas.  Second, I am getting sick of living with concrete floors in the family room.  Handy Hubby and I need to get putting in the wood floors crossed off the list soon

What are your goals for the New Year?  Anything big?  Little?  I would love to hear for you, maybe we could help each other with our goals.  Happy New Year Everyone!
