Roast Beast Feast

Wednesday, 30. November 2011

Our theme for this year’s Christmas is “How the Grinch Stole Christmas’.

I would like to welcome you to our Roast Beast Feast.

 Here’s the table for two.

and

”What’s on the menu?” you ask.

 Who Pudding and

Rare Who Roast Beast.  (Made with paper mache, joint compound, acrylic paint, and spray paint)

As part of the centerpiece, I stacked up some of my Fiestaware.

This a candelabra that my husband welded together for me.  He made it as a form so I could cover it with modeling clay but I love it as is so I painted it a happy turquoise and added Christmas colored taper candles.

I wanted to do something a little more fun that a floral arrangement so I came up with,

 Candy flowers!

My kids have been very patient in waiting for their chance to devour these flowers.

I just used some of the vases I usually have displayed in my craft room/laundry room.

I used our good silverware and the cream and red snowflake plate I use every christmas.  I bought the placements and napkins at Target.  I also bought the turquoise and cream snowflake plates.  I picked them up at Shopko.  I made the name cards.  The stemware are heirlooms from  Grandma.

To add to the spirit of things we bought this little “Seuss” tree from Hobby Lobby.

Last but not least, I wanted to share my mantle.

I couldn’t find a “Max” so I made a horn out of modeling clay and tied it on my doggie’s head.

I borrowed Mr. Grinch from my Mom.

I bought these wooden letter from Hobby Lobby and painted them a “Grinchy” green and  hot glued them to some ribbon.

I had some frames that weren’t being used so I made this artwork.

I guess I should have warned you from the start how long this post was going to be.  That’s about it for this room.  I will be sharing other rooms and my front porch in the near future.  I will also be sharing some tutorials for all the things I made.  I am linking this post up, so please click on the links and get inspired or just mingle with other party goers.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

“Up” House Living Room

Sunday, 27. November 2011

I’m sure you recognize this living room from the movie.

I don’t have much commentary today as the pictures speak for themselves.

Pretty darn good, Right?     I’m just amazed at the attention to every little detail.  It would have been so fun but so exhausting to design this room.  My hat’s off the LaNae Bangerter the designer of this house!  You are an inspiration to us all.

Black Friday

Friday, 25. November 2011

Okay, I know this is NOT the best picture.  It’s shaped a little funny because I wanted to crop out bleary-eyed, unsuspecting, fellow shoppers.  This was the scene late last night as I stood in line for Target’s Black Friday Door Busters.  I’m not sure how many people were in line with me but I do know that I was in the first third of the line and it took me about ten minutes to get to the front door.   Despite waiting outside on a cold winter night for over an hour and then waiting in line inside for over an hour.  I had a blast.  Everyone in line and in the store was in a party mood.  Everyone was joking and having a great time.  No fist fights or pepper spray here.  I didn’t get everything I wanted, but I did get most of what was on my list.  I estimate that I saved around $200 dollars to boot.  Overall a really good experience for my first real Black Friday :-)

Gratitude

Thursday, 24. November 2011

I wanted to let everyone know how grateful I am for you.  I am so thankful for my family,  for the one I was born into, for the one I married into and most especially for the one I have with my loving husband.   I am grateful to all of you who take time out of your busy day to visit my site.  You’ll never know how much your comments and support mean to me.  I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

“Up” House Nursery

Sunday, 20. November 2011

I wanted to continue with sharing pictures of the “Up” House from the 2011 Salt Lake Parade of Homes for this week’s Inspiration.  In case you missed any of my other “Up” House posts just head over to the sidebar and click on “Inspiration”.   This is the nursery.

Isn’t this the sweetest room?

I just watched “Up” last night and this mural was perfectly recreated.  That’s it for this week.  Next week I will share some more of the “Up” House.  Hope I have helped “Inspire” you.  Have a great week!
