Autumn Living Room

Friday, 30. September 2011

The leaves are starting to change and fall here, even though we’ve had a little heat wave.  My favorite thing about Autumn is the beautiful colors.  I wanted to create a room with all the warm , rich colors that just seem so comforting right now.  If you are interested in any product information or want to try creating a mood board of your own, please visit Olioboard.  (I do not work for Olioboard.  I don’t receive any money or any other kind of compensation from them.  I just love the site and I love creating mood boards and wanted to share the fun.)

Bell Canyon, Utah

Tuesday, 27. September 2011

A few weeks ago I posted some pictures taken by my oldest son on a day hike in Bell Canyon.  Today, I am featuring more pictures of Bell Canyon but these were taken by my daughter.  Above is a picture of Bell Canyon Reservoir.

Here are a couple of shots taken of a stream that feeds the reservoir.

I think I’ve got a budding photographer on my hands.  She’s got a great eye and an appreciation for nature’s beauty.  (Again, I have earned my Mother’s Bragging Rights by being thrown up on, spending sleepless nights worrying about sick babies, and patiently cutting the crusts off of every sandwich for 13 years now.)  If you are considering this hike you may want to check out this link for more detailed information.  Thanks for stopping by.

Update: Ceiling Repairs

Monday, 26. September 2011

My dear Handy Hubby has been very busy this weekend.

He’s going so fast on this project that I’m not sure if I’ll have time to finish up my side projects before he turns this project over to me.  I only have to prime and paint (again) so my part is pretty easy.  Oh well,  we are getting close to being done with this room.  I’m really liking the way its coming together and can’t wait to share the finished room with you.

Blue and Tan Bathrooms

Saturday, 24. September 2011

For this week’s Inspiration, I am sharing pictures of the  bathrooms from the blue and tan house I have been promising.  Below is the upstairs bathroom.

What I love about this bathroom is the wallpaper.  It is perfect for this house and it is neutral enough to last for years.  I also love the way the designers pulled the blue from the wallpaper and used it in the shower curtain and the towels.   I also really like the sinks and faucets.  They are modern and fresh yet still classic looking. This bathroom also wins points for good space planning.  There is plenty of storage and  I like the double sinks and the separate room for the toilet and tub so more than one kid can get ready at the same time.

Above is a picture of the master bathroom.  I love the way they continued the color theme into this room but just punched it up a bit.  The wallpaper is more glamorous.  The counters are upgraded as are the tub and shower.  There is also just the right blend of masculine and feminine to make both Mom and Dad happy.

And last but not least is the bathroom in basement.    This bathroom is just off of the basement family room I featured last week.  It is scaled back compared to the other bathrooms because it only serves one bedroom (probably a guest room) and the family room.  Even though it is scaled back it still is elegant and flows seamlessly with the other rooms.  Next week I will finish up with this house by sharing the bedrooms.  Hope this helps any of you looking for fresh ideas.  Happy designing!

Jukebox Hero

Friday, 23. September 2011

This week I wanted to share a mood board I created at Olioboard. It was for a contest to create a space worthy of a millionaire (male) rock star who likes dark colors with pops of vibrant color. The space had to take into account that he would want to entertain here and create new music too. This was one of my favorite mood boards yet. It was so much fun to create. It didn’t hurt that I won second place either. If you see anything in the board that you like click here for details. Everything you see is a product that you can buy. Happy weekend and happy designing everyone!
