I wanted to share a funny story with you. My youngest is at the point where he talks all the time, problem is usually only I can understand what he is saying. Sometimes even I don’t understand what he is saying. Take the other day for instance, he was holding up his finger and saying “Ugg, Ugg”. I thought he was trying to tell me he hurt his finger so I bent down to kiss it better. When I kissed it, I suddenly realized he didn’t have an “Ouch” he had picked his nose and was giving me his “Boog”.

This week I wanted to do a design board featuring some 3D interior paneling. I first saw this paneling in a model home in the 2010 Salt Lake City Parade of Homes. You can see the original picture here. I haven’t looked into these panels too much because even though I love these panels, I want brick accent walls in my house. I did find this really great site called 3d Wall Panels.com. Check them out. They have tons of different designs and if you don’t see exactly what you want, they will make it for you from your own design. Have a great weekend and have fun with your house!

This is a picture of Astoria-Megler Bridge. Opened in 1966, this bridge connects Oregon and Washington. It spans the more than four mile stretch across the mouth of the Columbia River. It is a most impressive sight. The picture does not do it justice. We have been through Astoria several times but it is always astonishing to me to see so much water. I suppose it is because I was born and raised in a desert and I’m used to seeing miles of sagebrush not water. Anyway, this year I made my husband stop so I could get some pictures. I am going to frame this one for a gallery wall going up in my family room.

Last week while we were vacationing in Portland, I picked up this fun yellow, black, and purple vintage tablecloth. I knew right away that I wanted to do a tablescape with my thrifted yellow and black salad plates.
I must love checks because almost all of my table lines are checkered. And, lucky for me, they worked for this table.

I pulled some yellow and purple accessories together from around the house for a centerpiece.

Here is a close up of the plates.

Here’s the run down:
black plates, Target
white plates, thrifted
salad plates, thrifted
tablecloth, thrifted
place mats and yellow goblets, Walmart
silverware, Target
napkins, homemade
clear goblets, gifted
purple bottles, eBay
purple candles and holder, gifted
vase, gifted (I spray painted it white)
yellow flowers, Thai Pan Trading
Thank you for visiting. I will be linking up with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Have a great weekend everyone!

Sometimes in decorating you don’t know where the line is until you cross it. I love the black and white curtains I made for my kitchen window (here) but they were too much. Too much black. Too much pattern. They just didn’t feel right for the space. Don’t worry though, they are going to find a new home in my master bathroom. To reign things back in and balance the room again, I chose this green plaid. I like the way the material picks up on the green in the plate and the bits of brown and cream pick up on the counter and cabinets. Most of all I like the way these curtains bring a touch of serenity to the kitchen.
