This Week’s Thrifted Treasure

Tuesday, 21. June 2011

I found this chair a few week’s ago and thought it would be the perfect office chair for my Mom Cave.  I have been using a folding chair for a couple of years now.  Time for a change don’t you think?  This chair has beautiful lines.  Great details and just the right blend of elegance and sass.   I love her but she needs a makeover.   Here are some ideas I came up with using some fabrics from my stash.

Sorry you can’t see the pattern better.  The circles are navy, turquoise and yellow.  I thought the chair would be cute with this material and turquoise paint.

How about this royal blue diamond pattern with white lacquered paint?

I picked this material up at the thrift shop too.  It looks vintage but I’m not sure if it really is.  It has birds and flowers and is just fun.  If I use this material I could go with red or white paint.  Maybe red paint with a black glaze to bring out the detail?

How about stripes?  I could paint the chair a creamy white and glaze it.

I am having trouble deciding which look I like the best.  I am leaning toward the circles and turquoise paint or the red and white bird material with red paint/black glaze.  What do you think?  Which would you choose?  Above and below are reminders of what the room looks like.  Please feel free to weigh in.  Any and all suggestions will be appreciated :-)

Happy Father’s Day

Sunday, 19. June 2011

Happy Father’s Day to my sweet, loving hubby.  Too mushy?  How about happy Father’s Day to the best “Cool Tool” guy in the world.  A man who can make anything or fix anything.  See here for proof  ShopNGarage.  Better?  Well, I’m going to revert to the mushy, gushy because I’m a girl and that’s just how it is. Okay, so we’re not newlyweds anymore but you still make my heart flutter when you get home from work everyday.  My heart melts when you let the boys play cool tools with you while you’re working on projects in your shop.  It’s worth more to me than diamonds or pearls when you do stuff around the house for me (here).  Everyday is a rollercoaster around here but I wouldn’t have it any other way because I have you at my side.

I Won!

Thank you to everyone that voted for me.  I am so super excited!  Please, please stop over at LambAround and check out her blog.  I’ll admit that I haven’t been following her for very long but I have already picked up some really great recipes.  I also really like her Link party “Not Baaad Sundays”.  Link up if you have something you want to share (show off) or just marvel at all the talented people out there.  Most of all though I’ll be following her because I love her funny stories and sense of fun she brings to blogging.  Every time I check in I can’t help but leave smiling.  Thanks again!

Update on My Living Room

Friday, 17. June 2011

I change things around so often I thought I’d add a new category called “Updates”.  To start things off I wanted to share some of the updates I have made to my living room.  A couple of the updates have already been posted (see here and here).  A couple of other things I have updated are adding a plant.

I also added new slipcovers to the wing back chairs, removed the rug, removed the brown throw from the couch, and changed some of the pillows to lighten up the room and make it more summery.

And last but not least, yes, I have changed the vignette on my table yet again.

Breakfast On The Patio

Wednesday, 15. June 2011

It is still cold and wet here for this time of year but we have had a string of nice days so I wanted to get outside and enjoy.  Almost everything in this tablescape has been featured before so I will just get on with the pictures.

I really liked the way the early morning sunlight played with the crystal, glass dishes and gold-rimmed china.

I think the green glass plates are the plates are the only items that are new.  I picked them up at my favorite thrift store a few weeks ago so I don’t know anything about them except that they are pretty.

I don’t believe that I have shared this little bowl before.  My Grandmother gave it to me years ago.  Sorry I don’t know much about it either.  Guess I’m not so much into the dishes as much as putting them together in pretty settings.

I wanted to put a lot of glass and texture on this table.

I had a bunch of fat quarters left over from a quilt I was going to make but never got around to, so I have been using them as napkins.  I like to keep it a little casual and use twine as  napkin rings.

It is so much more fun taking pictures outside.  Oh, good news, my camera is working again!  Ya!!  More good news, my roses have budded.
