Semi-Formal Dining Room

Tuesday, 24. August 2010

This dining room is in a model home that was featured in this year’s  Salt Lake Parade of Homes.  I particularly love the chandelier.  I also adore the tablescape.  Boy, if I didn’t have little ones I would steal that idea.

Black and White Paint Idea

Monday, 23. August 2010

I thought this idea would work in a teen or tween girl’s bedroom.  I think an accent wall like this and the rest of the walls white or maybe this idea above white painted wainscot or board and batten molding.  What I did was paint a base of semi-gloss black and then stencil the flowers with a self priming off-white.  What would I do different if I was going full scale?  I would use a bigger stencil or one that didn’t have as much detail because I had a bit of trouble with the white bleeding under the stencil.

Day At The Beach

The forecast was for warm and sunny.  Yes, it was as cold as it looks.  And don’t even get me started on the water temperature.  We still had a great time though.  I got a tons of great shots of the ocean to replace the ones I lost when my computer crashed.  This one is one of my favorites.

Fritter and Waste the Hours in an Offhand Way

Friday, 20. August 2010

Family vacation time.  My husband’s family lives in Vancouver Washington so each year we come up to visit for about a week. Today my husband and I left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa and went to Wine Country.  We spent the day wine tasting and antiquing.  A few hours without “Mom!” was enough but throw in the sheer decadence of  leisurely sipping wine (as opposed to gulping the last bit of lukewarm coffee as I run out the door because we’re late again) and you have a day that comes close to perfect. This is a picture of the Duck Pond Winery where we picked up an award winning bottle of their Pinot Noir. Cheers!

Casual, Sophisticated Great Room

Wednesday, 18. August 2010

If I could choose any house I wanted to live in (besides Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water) this would be it.  In addition to having a wonderful floor plan and great finishes it has tons and tons of natural light.  This home was in the Salt Lake Parade of Homes and in my opinion was much better than the million dollar homes featured.  Here are some shots of the great room.
