I have never given a second thought to ceilings before. Lately though, I have been obsessing about the plainness, the sheer glossy whiteness of the ceilings in my house and have decided they just won’t do any longer. Unlike my last post, I think I can do this ceiling myself. How hard can it be? (I am still in the middle of the last project I said that about. Making slipcovers for wing back chairs with no prior sewing experience is harder than it sounds). I think maybe the kids bathroom is a good place for this experiment. I’ll keep you informed.

I live in a tri-level house. I would love to open up the low ceilings in my living room and kitchen and do this. But first I am going to get new floors (the beige 20 year old carpet isn’t doing it for me) and update the bathrooms.

Call it rebelling against TV dinners eaten at the counter. Or maybe it was just looking at the china hutch and thinking, “Why not use some of this stuff”‘ Whatever it was, I had fun coming up with this.

This is my daughter’s room. She wanted something more grown-up than her princess posters since she just turned ten. We found these movable, dry-erase stickers at Home Depot. They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. There is no limit to how you could arrange these. They are easy to apply and easy to remove so you could try something new every day. They do rip so I would only let older kids go crazy with creative arranging.

I love the creative use of molding in this master bedroom. I saw this room in a model home a while ago. I have been wanting to do this molding treatment behind my bed and even bought some molding and did the math to get even squares but at the last minute, I decided I wanted a brick accent wall instead. I still might try it somewhere though. If and when I do, I’ll show step-by-step instructions.
