Stenciled Walls

Here is a room that I did for my daughter when she was five.  She wanted a garden room.  We found a stencil with dragonflies, butterflies, and lots of flowers.  I painted a base coat of a soft peach and then I drew a straight line with a level all the way around the room.  I lined the stencil up with my line and attached it to the wall with tape (they also make an adhesive spray for stencils).  I used stencil paints and brushes for this job.  There were three different stencils in the kit I bought.  The first one was grass and some of the flowers.  I used slightly darker colors on the first stencil as this was supposed to be background.  The second stencil was more flowers, a bumblebee and a dragonfly.  I used lighter tones of paint on this one because it was foreground.  The third stencil was a butterfly.  This one I placed randomly above the stencil.  When I was done stenciling I went back and added highlights to some of the flowers and grasses.  We found a sheer panel for the window that had dragonfly and butterfly appliques to help continue the look.
