Serene Master Bedroom

Saturday, 31. July 2010

This is a bedroom from a model home.  I think the designer really hit the nail on the head with this room.  It is sophisticated, simple and serene.

Green Painted and Glazed Front Door

Friday, 30. July 2010

This is my front door.  When we moved in it was beige.  It looked okay but it wasn’t what I had in mind.  The bricks are orange, cream, and green.  I thought the green would be the best color to tie  the facade of the house in with my flower gardens.  I couldn’t however find the perfect green so I painted the door my favorite out of the samples then I put a brown glaze over it.  I wound up with the perfect color and as an added bonus, the glaze upped the character of the front porch by adding to the aged cottage feel of the house.

Best Laid Plans

Thursday, 29. July 2010

My computer crashed last week and I lost most of the pictures I was going to use in My New Art Project.  I was thinking  I could play around with some of the pictures that I did have backed-up, maybe something more artistic than the straight forward nature scenes I was originally going to print and frame.   Here is what I came up with.

July’s Favorite Thing

Tuesday, 27. July 2010

My son wanted a more grown up color palette for his new room.  We decided to go with gray and black with a touch of orange.  His bed is in a recessed niche so I painted that wall black.  The rest of the walls are gray.  I carried orange around the room in accessories.  He likes modern so we went with lighting from Ikea.  I just love the warm glow this light throws around the room and I love the play of the texture against the glossy black paint.

Throw Pillows

Monday, 26. July 2010

My daughter and my niece are the same age and are more like sisters than cousins.  They have similar tastes and wanted their bedrooms done almost identically.  I bought a couple of yards of fabric and a few yards of trim and had fun making pillows for both of them.
